Philadelphia!!! (city of brotherly love in vocab book)

OMG!!! I can't believe that we are going to Philly tomorrow! I don't know about you but I am totally Extatic (cool word). Even though I have been there before I think I'll be doing alot of stuff that I didn't do while I was there last. The only thing that I think that I all ready did was seeing the liberty bell, which we might do (i think). I hope everyone has a superdeedooper (another cool word) time!

3 Midsummer Nights Dream Test Questions

Question 2:
If I had to act this play out on stage, I would probably want to be Puck. Even though he's a boy I think it would be really fun to play a fairy that plays all sorts of tricks on people. Maybe Puck could be turned into a girl fairy for the play. Puck really adds comedy to the play and he definitely has a sense of humor. Also, without him there probably wouldn't be any real conflict in the story. If the director (like Mr. Gallo) doesn't let me play him because he's a boy I would still want to be a character that is a fairy because why be a human when you can be a mythical creature?!?

Question 3:
My favorite scene was when Demetrius and Lysander both loved Helena so they decided to fight for her love. Oberon didn't want them to hurt each other so he told Puck to prevent them from fighting. Puck then made the whole forest foggy and pretended to be the men so they would get lost. I like this scene in the play because in a way it's funny but it also is an important part of the story. If Puck hadn't intervened then they would have fought and gotten hurt (or worse...). This scene shows that Puck is a really important part of the play.

Question 4:
My least favorite character would have to be Demetrius. He was a total jerk especially to Helena. He was almost as conceited as Nick Bottom. He thought that he was to good for Helena even though she loved him with all her heart. Before Puck put the magic flower on his eyes he was completely blind to how happy Helena and himself could be together if he just started acting like a gentleman. I'm really glad the potion changed his attitude permanently. I can't even imagine having to associate with someone like Demetrius.

Inspiring Quote

"Every artist was first an amateur."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

I think that this quote means that nobody can never be great at something the first time they try it but everyone should keep practicing until they are great. Your thoughts?

Midsummer Nights Dream Sumary for Act 4 (scene 1 and 2)

Act 4 Scene 1:

Hermia, Helena, Demetrius, and Lysnader are all asleep. Bottom (looking an acting like a donkey) is bossing around Titania's servants. When the fairies exit, Titania falls asleep. Then Oberon and Puck enter. Oberon feels sorry and a little jealous that Titania has fallen in deep love with a donkey headed jerk so he decides to reverse the love juice and make her come out of the spell. When she woke up, she thought it was all a crazy dream. Titania saw Bottom laying near her and was disgusted. Next, Oberon orders Puck to change Bottoms head back to normal. After that, Theseus, Hippolyta, and Egeus enter, they see Lysander, Demetrius, Helena, and Hermia sleeping on the floor and wake them up. They are all baffled (funny word) about the crazy "dream" (that's what they think). Demetrius was permanently effected by the "dream" and is now in love with Helena again. Lysander confesses that Hermia and him were planning on running away to get married. Egeus was really mad but Theseus thought that since they were all paired up with their lovers that they should all get married the same day as him (that day). Egeus agreed. They all exit still flabbergasted (another funny word) about their peculiar dream. When they leave Bottom wakes up confused about his "dream" also.

Act 4 Scene 2:

Starveling, Flute, Snug, and Quince were freaking out that Bottom wasn't there because they convinced that couldn't do the play without him. They about to give up when Bottom comes in and gives orders to prepare for the play.

Midsummer Night's Dream Summary (Act 3)

Act 3, scene 1:
Peter Quince, Nick Bottom, and the others are rehearsing in the forest and Puck decides to watch. He realized how much a jerk Nick Bottom was being so when he went of stage (into a bush) waiting for his cue, Puck followed him and turned his head into that of a donkey's. He didn't notice so when he came out he was surprised when everyone was scared of him and ran away. Bottom starts to sing which wakes Titania up. She immediately falls in love with him (this is obviously because of the love potion that Oberon put on her eyes). Titania invites Bottom to come with her and have her fairy servants take care of him.

Act 3, scene 2:
Puck told Oberon about Titania's love for Bottom and that he put the love juice on a man with Athenian clothes. Oberon realizes that Puck messed it all up when Helena, Hermia, Lysander, and Demetrius show up and start arguing. Lysander and Demetrius challenge each other to a fight for Helena. Oberon wants to fix this and end the fight so he tells Puck to prevent them from fighting each other. He does this by making the forest foggy so they can't see each other and disguising his voice to sound like the other to lead them away from each other.

Midsummer Nights Dream Summary (Act 2)

Act 2, Scene 1:
In the beginning of scene 1 of act 2, we find out that Titania and Oberon (the fairy king and queen) are in a big fight. They are fighting because Titania took an Indian prince who's mother (good friend of Titania) died in childbirth. Oberon wants the boy to be his personal body guard while Titania wants to raise him lovingly. Oberon wants the child so much that he tells his jester, Robin Goodfellow (A.K.A. Puck) to get the flower shot by Cupids arrow. If some of it's juice is poured on someones eyes they  will fall in love with the first living thing they see. He plans to use the flower to make Titania fall in love with someone so he can take the baby.
Mean while, Oberon hears a conversation between Demetrius and Helena. He notices how mean Demetrius is being and wants to teach him a lesson. When Puck arrives with the flower, Oberon takes half of the flower for Titania and he gives half to Puck telling him to sprinkle some on an Athenian man in the forest(meaning Demetrius). Puck then goes off to find this Athenian man.

Act 2, Scene 2:
Titania falls asleep when the fairies sing her a lullaby. Then Oberon comes and sprinkles some love flower on her eyes. Then we go back to Hermia and Lysander who have run away to get married, they get lost in the forest and decide to go to sleep and start walking again tomorrow. Once they are asleep, Puck finds them and thinking that Lysander is the Athenian man that Oberon was talking about, he puts the love flower potion on his eyes. When Lysander wakes up, the first person he sees is Helena who he falls deeply in love with. Helena doesn't believe that he really is in love with her because she has such low self esteem. She thinks that he is being rude and sarcastic, but Lysander follows her anyway. When Hermia wakes up, she finds that Lysander isn't there, she starts to get worried and goes looking for him.
